Dear NZ Food Places, Shut the DOOR!

Dear Auckland cafe's, pubs and restaurants
Stop pretending it's summer! Shut the bloody door and turn the heating on. I don't like sitting inside a restaurant, pub or cafe with my coat and scarf on.

If people in Toronto can be nice and warm when it's -20c outside, then surely Auckland can manage it when it's about +9c.

NZ, style over substance. Stylish Lighting? check. Fancy Menu? check. Gourmet Coffee? check. Posh Prices? check. Minimalist artsy fartsy furniture? check. Heating/warmth? nah.

 That is all.

Simple Question, Scottish Independence, Why?

There have been so many heated debates, so many arguments, but at the moment I am wondering this...

If Scotland is such a sponger of English wealth and taxes, if Scotland is such a burden of the state, if Scotland is so badly equipped to run it's own affairs, then why does David Cameron wish to keep this United Kingdom together?

If Scotland really doesn't play its part, if Scotland does not contribute and Scotland is 'dependent', then why do so many English people resent the desire for Independence?

If Scotland's oil and gas reserves are really not such a big deal, if they are running out and probably won't fetch much cash for an Independent Scotland, then why did Westminster move a maritime boundary north to reduce the potential Scottish EEZ area by 6000 Sq miles?

Just wondering...

Reasons for Scottish Independence.

When you get paid at the end of the month you don't give that money to your next door neighbours and let them decide what you can spend. At home you and your family are responsible for your own priorities and your own choices. But as a nation we currently let other people make those decisions for us.

In all parts of life people aspire to Independence. Our young people want the freedom to make their own decisions, just as many pensioners relish keeping their independence as they get older. We value independent investigations, we want our courts and police to be independent, many people aspire to leave jobs in big companies to go independent as their own boss.

At the heart of this is the natural desire to take responsibility for our own actions. Independence for our nation is not the answer to every concern you will have about the community and country you live in, but it does mean that we all work together for the answer. Independence is about a lot of things, but for me, at its heart, it is about choices. About having the ability to speak up for our own community, and to see the decisions Scotland takes, acted upon. And that choice - that independence - is a very precious thing." Angela Constance on Independence
